Thriving as a Leader II

Learning to Care for the Hearts and Minds of Our Teams

True leadership is so much more than just managing tasks and hitting goals. At its core, it’s about genuinely caring for the people you work with. Understanding their feelings, supporting them through challenges, and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued.

This week, NAMI Foundation successfully facilitated the second session of our “Thriving as a Leader” workshop series at Sagar Group. The entire session revolved around one important theme: nurturing team wellbeing and mental health.

Leaders were gently encouraged to pause and ask themselves a meaningful question - “How is my team really doing?”

They explored why mental health plays such a big role in the workplace and learned practical ways to become more empathetic leaders.

Instead of offering simple sympathy, they practiced truly listening, acknowledging ideas, and providing the kind of understanding support that helps team members feel safe and motivated.

The session was filled with energy and hands-on learning and department leaders were encouraged to break ice and open communication through a snowball activity.

They also tried roleplay exercises to practice kind and effective responses when team members share their concerns. Through relaxed group discussions, everyone shared their real experiences, everyday challenges, and useful strategies for building stronger support within their teams.

The atmosphere was lively, insightful, and deeply engaging. You could see the leaders becoming more aware and inspired as they exchanged stories and ideas with one another.

Many walked away with fresh perspectives and simple approaches they could start using right away to make their teams happier and more resilient.

It was truly heartwarming to witness such active participation and genuine interest. Sessions like this clearly show that when leaders prioritize mental wellbeing, teams grow stronger, more connected, and better able to face difficulties together.

This second session was another meaningful step in that direction, and we’re already excited about what’s next.

We are happy to share that the third session of “Thriving as a Leader” is coming soon! We look forward to diving even deeper and continuing this wonderful journey of growth together.

Let’s keep nurturing leaders who don’t just manage work, but who truly listen, value, and empower the people around them every single day.
